One morning I was out shelling on a beach in between Sanibel and Captiva. I came upon this Great Blue Heron just standing alone near the beach. I was able to get fairly close and take several shots. I took just one to many steps and the darn thing flew off. So off I trudged after it...about a 1/2 mile back down the beach to the breaker. There it was again...so i was able to take alot more shots of this incredible bird.
This was a really large Heron. It is certainly taller than it appears.
I just think it is pretty amazing how they can "squnch" themselves up.
